Thursday – 60 – Left @ 8:15 for Hilo, Took Saddleback Rd between volcanoes @ 10am to Waimea; saw Dan’s church; to Hawaiian Restaurant; Dan treated to Bkfst; Left @ noon for Costco; got gas & HD got Pizza; Airport @ Kona 1:25; 2:55pm take off arr. 10:33 pm; Todd picked us up; at Billyboy’s House @ 12:30am
Wednesday – 62 – nice sunny morn – eve light rain; left house @ 8:15am; Waeimea pit stop; 3564 ft scenic point mile 8; pics overlooking valley & ocean below: Kahala Ranch – 3000 ft could see Mauai ahead of us mile 16; town of Hawi 29 miles; noon lunch @ Sonny’s Dive (ugh) drove all afternoon – City of Rescue; took pics there; 77 miles back to Volcano 5pm; Jean printer our passes @ Kalena’s; home 8:30 brown rice fettucine good – Jean & I; we packed 10pm
Tuesday – sorta clear – up at 6am – played cards, couple games; to Haw. Volcano National Park; Lunch @ 11 @ picnic table; Wandered thru visitor center; watched movie @ center; Home 1pm to get CD’s, etc.; On to Hilo 2 prints Office Max 2.00; 4pm Fish & Chips 4.00; Rose Dress @ Ross 4.50; Jean for mail; called SSS 5pm; Another view of The Glow 2 pics; Home 7:30; Showered; Played cards till 9 Spite & Malice; Read Song of the Exile by Kiana Davenport
Monday – sun, later rain; up at 6:30am; bkfst Papaya, Eng Muffin, poached egg; 8am to see Volacano spill; met photographer Ron Boyle – gave me pic of eruption; his bro is park’s official photographer (Dave); on to Hot Pond at Pahoa (30 miles) lunch first then in the pond; Baptism(s) going on; I did swim a lot – Jean standby; home by 2:30; got ready – dinner at Blakemores; Lao Lao, Salad, chicken, desserts, Haupia, sweet potato cheesecake, kulolo, starfruit; HD got gas for van; Kalena burned CD’s; Home by 9:30 to see Glow
Sunday – 60 am – sun/clouds; up at 6am; Farmers Market; Bksft 2.00; 2 skirts 3.00; Abalone Butterfly Necklace 10.00; Back home 9am; Dan (June Sowiniski’s 1st son ) Morimoto & friend w/ truck for stuff; 10:30 service @ Fr. George De Costa Big Island Learning & Arts Center; Lunch (@home) 1pm; Rice/meat, salad, salsa; weather bad; stayed home; played cards Spite & Malice
Saturday – 65 – 72 – Rainy – up at 6am; bkfst ½ bagel – egg – papaya; red dress, Chels skirt on top to keep warm; 8:15 Kalena came; off to Hilo; Jean to W Watchers lost 6#; HD & I shopped got Brown Print Dress and Key Ring $7.00; $40 to Jean for gas; to Hot Pond – ate lunch there; in Hot Pot (nice) till 2pm; headed home; called SSS 3:30; Rice dish supper; 5:15 Mass @ Malia Puka O Kaline, Hilo, HI 96720 (Lovely) $1.00; Fr. WILSON BUITRAGO; Watched Loretta Young DVD’s; Reading Song of The Exile; by Kiana Davenport
Friday – up at 7am – HD and I walked an hour to Volcano Nat Park – ck out steam; Jean got gas $4.15/gal; Drove 2 hrs. They played cribbage; Fin Book Rise & Shine by Anna Quindlen; Dinner 5:30 @ Blakemores (Ben, Kalena, Kali`i, Aunt Marge, dog OLA); visited till 8:30
Thursday – up at 7am – ½ bagel, poached egg; Tan pants skirt / lt tan bubble top; left @ 9:40, drizzly, 60, 1. Tropical Botanical Gardens 2. AKAKA Falls 3. WAIP`O town 4. WAIPEP then Waimea 5. Parker Ranch rodeo grounds, very windy, Saddle Road – clear, sunny, then FOG; called SSS 4:20 – they’re cleaning my place; NORFOLK pine is real (Araucuria columnaris, F.) or Cook Pine; Brugmansia Candida – Angel’s Trumpet; AFRICAN TULIP Tree or Flame Tree; Jean to farmers mkt for veggies; took canned food to donate; pulled pork dinner; showered and washed hair
Wednesday – up @ 7am – Jean got Crock Pot Dinner set; did LAUNDRY; Deliv. Trash; mad our lunches; visited Lava Tree Park; Walked mile trail; took pics; Hot Pond – had lunch 1:30 – 3:30 – snorkeled and lots of pics – got gas – called sss she and K cleaning my house; roast beef dinner ready; 5:30 – 6:30 visited Kalena & Ben took pics of them and Kalé`ki; got water; Kapoho Tide Pools; Ahanalai Pools on the Puna Coast – rain everyday
